Who we are
The Pearson Block Building was constructed in 1909 by John Pearson, a prominent early Belle Fourche businessman and builder. The building sits on State Street, the historic commercial corridor of Belle Fourche, and has served various retail and service purposes over the decades. The Pearson Block Building is one of the remaining early‑20th‑century commercial structures in downtown Belle Fourche. Its restoration and reuse preserve a tangible link to the city’s early growth—especially the entrepreneurial legacy of John Pearson, whose projects shaped the cultural and commercial identity of State Street.
Pearson Block is now owned by Zach & Jenny Gaaskjolen and home to two businesses; Pearson Block Hous & Pearson Block Candy Shop, both operated by the Gaaskjolen Family.
Pearson Block Hous offers a curated blend of vintage and modern furniture and home goods—pieces with character, craftsmanship, and story. The Hous has recently expanded to bring even more unique finds to the floor.
Pearson Block Candy Shop delivers a playful, nostalgic experience with specialty and old‑school candy by the pound, plus games, foosball, polycade, and board games. The shop now offers a mobile candy wall for event rentals, along with custom bags and baskets.
Located in the heart of Belle Fourche, the two businesses create a full family experience—playful on one side, deeply curated on the other. Pearson Block is built different.
